To help you get started we have put together some tips and tricks that will help improve your diet and will definitely have you heading toward success.
- Be aware of your portion size. Try eating off a smaller plate in order to control portion sizes. Your brain will automatically assume your meal is large if it fills the whole plate.
- Take your time and enjoy your meals. It takes your brain 20-30 minutes to register that the stomach is full, so if you eat too quickly you will often result in overeating.
- Eat your veggies and salad FIRST! Another good trick to avoid over eating as you will fill your stomach with low calorie foods reducing the amount of room for more energy dense foods.
- Eat until you are ¾ full. This will help avoid overeating and will give the brain time to register that in fact your stomach is full.
- Drink plenty of water during the day. People often mistake thirst for hunger and will eat copious amounts of food to satisfy the wrong need.
- Don’t eat out of boredom. Try to identify what is actual hunger and what is boredom and distract yourself in other more positive ways instead of with food (why not go for a run instead).
